Sergio Yávar Carberry

Sergio Yávar is one of the Firm’s founding partners as well as its administrator. His experience in labor related matters is vast, providing legal advice to large domestic companies engaged in manufacturing, retailing, services and universities. He is an active litigation attorney in civil, commercial and labor related matters. He has also specialized in Tax Law and is experienced in providing advice to real estate development and construction companies and in drafting contracts related to such business areas.

Mr. Yávar studied Law at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Faculty of Law. He is a member of the Chilean Bar Association.

José Pedro Silva Prado

José Pedro Silva, has been a partner in this Law Firm since its very inception. He is an active litigating attorney in matters concerning private – civil, commercial law – as well as administrative- constitutional public law and, in his capacity as expert in procedural law, he regularly authors Reports on Applicable Law that are used in litigations of great economic significance as well as serving as advisor in procedural matters. Furthermore, he is an experienced advisor in financial, civil and commercial matters, structuring equity, trusts, constitution, modification and merging of companies, domestic as well as foreign, non-profit foundations, etc. He´s held the post of Director in a number of large companies in the areas of telecommunications, real estate and securitization, he is currently the President of “Fundación Ciudad del Niño”, the oldest non-profit institution in Chile dedicated to provide care to socially vulnerable children.

Mr. Silva is an associate professor and regular staff member of the Procedural Law Department at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, he has been an educator at said higher education institution since 1984, and within that period, specifically during 2004-2010 he acted as Director of the Procedural Law Department. He is currently the Director of the University´s Civil Procedural Reform Program, as well as being a Member of the Curriculum Committee and various other academic committees at said Faculty.

From 2005 up to 2009 he participated as a member in the Civil Procedural Reform Forum, organized by the Ministry of Justice whose aim was the preparation of the future Chilean Civil Procedural Code. Afterwards, in 2010 through 2012 he participated as a member of the Intra-Ministerial Commission organized by the Ministry of Justice for the purpose of drafting the Chilean Civil Procedural Code Bill currently being debated in Congress, process in which he has been involved in his capacity as Ministry of Justice Advisor since 2010 up to date.

In addition to the aforementioned, he is presently the President of “Instituto Chileno de Derecho Procesal” and Vice-president of “Instituto Iberoamericano de Derecho Procesal for Chile, Bolivia y Perú”.

He also acts as arbitrator for “Centro de Mediación y Arbitraje de la Cámara de Comercio de Santiago”, carrying out such function by appointment of first instance courts of justice and also by appointments that are mutually agreed to between the parties to civil and commercial disputes.

José Pedro Silva studied Law at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Faculty of Law and he is a Member of the Bar.

Macarena Oyarzún Ithurralde

Macarena Oyarzún has been associated to our firm since the year 2010.

Her practice has been concerned mainly with the area of dispute resolution and arbitration, related to matters of private, civil, commercial law -, as well as public – administrative – constitutional law.

She is a “Procedural Law” professor at the Faculty of Law, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and during the years 2011 and 2013 she held the post as assistant professor in same department at the Faculty of Law, Universidad de Chile. Additionally, Mrs. Oyarzún completed a Specialization course in Civil Procedural Reform at Universidad de Chile and also a Specialization course in Negotiation Strategies at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Between the years 2001 and 2009 she held a post as litigating attorney for the Law Firm “Pomés y Compañía”.

Mrs. Oyarzún studied at the Faculty of Law, Universidad de Chile graduating with maximum honors. She is a member of the Chilean Bar Association.

César Paut Atenas

César Paut has been associated to our firm since the year 2010.

His main practice area has been the litigation of matters related to civil, commercial and labor cases.

During 2013 he completed the Specialization course “New Trends in Contracts and Damages” at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Mr. Paut studied at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Faculty of Law.

Andrés Sepúlveda Díaz

Andrés Sepúlveda has been associated to our firm since the year 2012.

His practice has centered in the area of civil, commercial and administrative litigations, including bankruptcy and settlement proceedings.

During the years 2009 and 2012 he was an associate attorney at the Law Firm “Toro, Cruzat y Cía”.

He is a Procedural Law assistant professor at the Faculty of Law, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Mr. Sepúlveda studied at the Faculty of Law, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is a member of the Chilean Bar Association.

Claudio Alvarado Zamorano

Claudio Alvarado has focused his professional practice on Labor and Social Security related Law. He´s gained much experience through his involvement in labor related cases and collective bargaining processes.

During the years 2012 and 2013 he acted as legal counsel for Cencosud S.A.´s Labor Relation Management Office.

Mr. Alvarado obtained his law degree at Universidad de Chile, Faculty of Law.

Enrique Amenábar Figueroa

Enrique Amenábar has focused his professional practice on judicial proceedings related to civil and commercial matters.

During the years 2009 and 2014 he acted as litigating attorney for the Law Firm “Fontaine y Compañía”.

In 2014 he attended the Western School of Law, California U.S.A., where he completed a Litigation Course on Cross-Examination Advanced Techniques.

Mr. Amenábar obtained his law degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Faculty of Law.

Pilar Hazbun Zuloaga

Pilar Hazbun has focused her professional practice on civil and commercial lawsuits as well as arbitration proceedings.

She is an assistant professor at the “Procedural Law” Department of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Faculty of Law.

During the years 2011 and 2014 she was an associate attorney at the Law Firm “Claro y Compañía” practicing within the Litigation Area.

Ms. Hazbun obtained her law degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Faculty of Law, graduating with maximum honors. She was conferred the “Jaime Guzmán Errázuriz“ award for her outstanding performance in completing the “Constitutional Law” courses.
